BHOPAL: Seven people died after a fire broke out at a two-storey building in Indore, Madhya Pradesh this morning. Nine others were rescued. The preliminary conclusion is that the accident was caused by a short circuit.

The fire was extinguished after a three-hour effort. 'Seven people, including two women, were burnt to death in the blaze. So far, nine people have been rescued. Five people were hospitalized', said the police.

Ansar Patel, the owner of the building, was taken into police custody as no fire safety equipment was installed in the building. A case has been registered against him under section 304A of the IPC. Police said the investigation is progressing.
