KOCHI: Thrikkakara UDF candidate Uma Thomas visited the headquarters of the Syro Malabar Church amidst the allegation that the LDF candidate is the nominee of the church. Uma met the priests and requested them to vote for her. She said that everyone's vote is necessary and the vote of the church is assured. "This is a political fight. Church's name should not be dragged into it. I would come to request once the cardinal returns", Uma said.

Opposition leader VD Satheesan, however, told reporters that he didn't say that Joe Joseph is church's candidate. "We never said that Joe Joseph is a candidate of the church. The CPM held a press conference with the candidate in front of the backdrop with the church symbol. The minister, who held a press conference with the director who is a priest, dragged the church into this. Not us."

"The CPM is fielding a candidate who hugs PC George, who only opens his mouth to spit poison", Satheesan scoffed.
