THRISSUR: 87-year old Vidhyadharan could not sit idle during Thrissur pooram. He touches and polishes his foreign-made bicycle and becomes reminiscent of Pooram memories. Earlier, while working as an employee in Kerala Varma College he regularly visited Thrissur to see pooram, which is 10 km away from Arimbur by riding bicycle. Even now, he wants to go and see pooram on his bicycle, but his family does not agree because of old age.

The bicycle is over a century old. 62 years ago, it was presented to Vidyadharan by N D Subramanian, then Professor and later Principal of Kerala Varma College. He gave a Rs 200 envelope in return but it was not accepted. The professor just reminded not to sell this to anyone. He has been taking care of it ever since. Vidyadharan's wife is Bharathi, a court employee. Children: Prameela, Anitha and Sivakumar.

Back then, a license was required to ride a bicycle. This cycle will be with me for the rest of my life, says Vidyadharan.
