SREEKARYAM: Sreekaryam police have arrested a youth who allegedly swindled Rs 13 lakh by offering a job under the pretext of being an income tax official. Shibin Raj (34), a resident of Palapur, Vellayani, was arrested by the Sreekaryam police. The arrest was made on a complaint filed by Sreekandan, a native of Sreekaryam. He had introduced himself as a high-ranking official in the Income Tax department in Delhi. Fake ID cards were also used for this. The job offers were to various central government agencies.

It is learned that Shibinraj, a teacher at a private educational institution in Thiruvananthapuram, had swindled money from several people through his acquaintance. It is learned that there is a similar case of fraud of Rs 15 lakh at Thiruvallam station. Police also received bank documents showing that lakhs were taken from several people. Several people who had lost money came forward with complaints upon learning of his arrest. Police said the accused will be produced in court and taken into custody for further questioning.
