THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Asani’ cyclone that was formed in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm. The wind speed is 125 kilometre per hour. There will be heavy rains and strong winds in the southern coasts of Bengal, Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh.

The meteorological department has warned those who went for fishing in Bay of Bengal to move to safe shores. Meantime, isolated rains will continue in Kerala on Monday as well. Rains are likely in central Kerala and hilly areas of the state.

‘Asani’ cyclone had formed in the Bay of Bengal around 380 kilometre west of Port Blair in Andaman Islands, on Sunday morning. Initially, it moved with a speed of 75 kilometre per hour. The cyclone’s strength will decrease after Tuesday. It will gradually weaken as it moves towards the coasts of northern Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
