THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Heavy rains are likely in the state on Monday. Yellow alert has been declared in four districts namely Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki.

The meteorological department has warned of isolated rains in the state for the next five days. Heavy rainfall is likely in the northern districts. The central and northern districts may experience winds with a speed of 30 kilometre per hour. However, rainfall will be less in the southern districts of Kerala.

Although, there are no restrictions for fishing in the Kerala coast, those engaged in fishing have been directed to reach safe shores as soon as possible due to the risk of bad weather and strong winds in Bay of Bengal.
