NILAMBUR: Police have obtained crucial evidence which proved that a Mysore-based traditional healer was beaten to death by a Nilambur native and his gang members in unjust detention a year ago. Following this, the Nilambur police registered a case in the death of the healer from Rajiv Nagar in Mysore. The evidence was collected by the police team which was probing the Nilambur robbery case.
According to police, the accused had chopped the body into pieces and wrapped it in a plastic cover. The accused then loaded the plastic cover into a luxury car and later threw the cover into the Chaliyar river in the morning. The incident took place in October 2020. The complainant in the Nilambur robbery case is the main accused in the murder case. It was the arrested accused in the Nilambur robbery case who informed the police about the murder case. They also handed over to the police a pen drive that shows the healer getting tortured.
A gang, led by Nilambur native man, abducted the traditional healer in August 2019. The culprits' aim was to learn about the panacea for piles from him and make money by selling medicines in Kerala.
When the healer refused to speak about the panacea, the culprits chained him in a separate room on the first floor of the Nilambur resident's house. He was tortured for over a year.
In October 2020, the healer died due to extreme torture. Following this, his body was chopped into pieces and dumped in the Chaliyar. The relatives had lodged a complaint with the Mysore police following the disappearance of the traditional healer. Relatives have identified the traditional healer from the footage in the pen drive. Police are expected to release the details today.
