CHANDIGARH: The police have recovered a rocket launcher, which is believed to have been used in the attack on Punjab police’ intelligence headquarters in Mohali, on last day. The weapons were found at a distance of one kilometre away from the building. It has been identified to be a Russian-made Rocket Propelled Grenade or RPG 22.

The arms were recovered soon after the banned organization Sikh for Justice claimed responsibility of the blast. According to the police, the grenades had hit the building from a distance of about 80 kilometres. However, no casualties were reported.

The police have taken into custody Nishan Singh, a native of Faridkot, who is suspected to have supplied weapons to the assailants. He is being interrogated by the police.

According to the police, three people who arrived in a car are responsible for the blast in the third floor of the building. The police have taken into custody two suspects in connection with the incident. The intelligence officers are inspecting the CCTV footage as well.

The blast took place around 7:45 pm on Monday. Top police officials have arrived at the spot and evaluated the situation. Forensic experts are also continuing their inspection. “Whoever tries to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab will not be spared and the strictest punishment will be given to them, which their coming generations will remember," said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
