KOZHIKODE: Family members say that model Shahana, who died under mysterious circumstances, was beaten up by tying up her legs by her husband Sajad for compensation. Shahana cried when she called her mother the day before she died. She said that Sajad was asking for the money she got for acting but she would give the money for her mother's treatment.

Those who saw the body before transferring to hospital said that Shahana had been severely beaten. There are also scars and bruises in the body. The brother said the claim that Shahana, who is tall, was hanging from a window was unbelievable and that she may have been hanged after being killed by Sajad. The family also demanded an inquiry into the role of Sajad's mother in the incident.

Shahana had earlier complained to the family that Sajad was using drugs and also about his bad company. She was repeatedly asked to come home but each time she tried to reconcile.

Meanwhile, the postmortem preliminary report came out that reveals that Shahana was hanged. A detailed report is required to confirm whether it was a suicide. Examination revealed that Sajad had been using MDMA on the day Shahana was found dead. Police said he was also selling cannabis under the guise of food delivery. Sajad, who was remanded till May 28, was shifted to the district jail.
