KOCHI: Police have arrested a man in connection with the spread of fake visuals of Jo Joseph, the LDF candidate in the Thrikkakara by-election. Sivadasan, a native of Palakkad and an employee of KTDC, was arrested by the Thrikkakara police. According to police, he is a former Youth Congress office bearer.

Police have registered a case against five persons in connection with the incident. They created a fake profile and posted the video on Facebook. After the footage was circulated to various groups, the accounts were deleted. The arrested are from Kannur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kollam districts. They are being interrogated at various police stations.

The case was registered under the Representation of the People Act on a complaint by the LDF leadership. This was followed by a detailed investigation by the cyber police.
