KOCHI: A widely discussed accident had taken place a year ago. A private helicopter carrying Lulu Group chairman Yusuff Ali and his wife crash-landed into a marshy land.
Now, Italian manufacturer’s AgustaWestland 109SP, the helicopter which met with the accident, is making a comeback with the news of its sale. The helicopter had crash-landed into a marshy plot of land in Panangad, Kochi on April 11, 2021.
A global tender has been called to sell the helicopter after a year into the accident. The sale is being organized as part of settling the insurance compensation.
The helicopter is four-years-old and costs around Rs 50 crores. It can carry six people including the pilot. Currently, the chopper is stored in the hanger of Kochi airport.
The chopper is not in flying condition, but can be used after maintenance works, said the authorities. The parts of the helicopter can be sold separately as well.
