KOCHI: Thrikkakara witnessed an exciting end to the open campaign for the by-election as the ranks enthusiastically danced, chanted slogans and waved flags. UDF candidate Uma Thomas, LDF candidate Joe Joseph and BJP's AN Radhakrishnan enthusiastically joined the workers in the high-voltage campaign in Palarivattom.
This marked the end of a month-long campaign full of political allegations and controversy. Now there will be a silent campaign tomorrow before the vote on May 31st. In Palarivattom, where the three front candidates and the workers came together, strict police deployment has been put in place to prevent any untoward incidents.
State leaders of the CPM and LDF, led by LDF convener EP Jayarajan, became part of the high voltage campaign in the Left camp. The Left Front is confident of completing a century in the legislative assembly. At the same time, the UDF is confident of retaining its stronghold. State and district leaders and film star Ramesh Pisharody joined the UDF camp as part of the campaign.
Along with the candidate, leaders like BJP state president K Surendran, former president Kummanam Rajasekharan and PK Krishnadas and PC George were present for the BJP camp. The BJP is confident of securing more votes this time.
