THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department has forecast heavy rains with thunderstorms in the state till Thursday. Yellow alert has been sounded in nine districts today. The yellow alert was issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad.

The central meteorological department has forecast rains in isolated places of all districts of Kerala for the next three hours. Strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph and at times up to 60 kmph are possible along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast. So, fishing has been banned.
