SRINAGAR: One terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district in Jammu Kashmir. The encounter began on Sunday evening in the Gundipora area of Pulwama in south Kashmir on the basis of a specific input about the presence of terrorists, said Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir zone. The operation is underway.

In another tweet, the IGP said that two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, including the killer of police constable Reyaz Ahmad who was killed in Pulwama on May 13, were trapped in the encounter.

The security forces began the search on Sunday evening following inputs from the Kulgam police. The operation, which was halted at night, was resumed by early morning.

This is the 54th encounter this year. So far, 84 terrorists, including 23 Pakistan terrorist, were killed by the security forces. Meantime, 14 civilians and 16 security personnel were killed in various terror attacks in Kashmir alone.
