KOCHI: Actor Vijay Babu, accused in sexual assault case, has postponed his trip to Kerala. According to his advocate, the actor will arrive in Kochi on coming Wednesday. Earlier it was said that he would arrive in Kerala on Monday, but the trip was later postponed. The ticket, which was booked on Emirates flight, has been cancelled.
Vijay Babu’s advocate informed the court that the actor has taken the ticket for a morning flight from Dubai to Kochi. The high court has postponed considering the actor’s anticipatory bail plea to Tuesday.
Vijay Babu, who was in Georgia, had returned to Dubai a few days back. He had planned to return to Kerala from there. Upon learning that he would arrive on Monday, the police were planning to arrest the actor from the airport itself. Hints suggest that Vijay Babu postponed his trip in order to avoid the arrest.
Vijay Babu had earlier informed that he will appear before the police on May 19. Later, he attempted to stay abroad till receiving the bail. However, his attempt failed due to the intervention of the court.
Earlier, Justice P Gopinath had said that the actor should first come under the court’s jurisdiction, then only his bail application would be considered. Vijay Babu’s passport was also cancelled. Following which, he decided to return to the state. The return trip was decided with the embassy’s special approval.
