THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the schools in the state set to fully reopen after a gap of two years, the entire police force will be on the streets to provide security to the students. Police officials, including station officers, will arrive in the cities and rural districts from 8 am under the supervision of City Police Commissioners and Rural SPs. The plan is to provide security to children at vehicles carrying children, in public places as well as on school premises.
The police officials will conduct patrolling and look into various things. They will also check if vehicles are overcrowded with children. In addition to the local police, the Traffic Police Enforcement Division, Control Room, Pink Patrol and Highway Patrol teams will patrol major roads and junctions in the morning and evening to control traffic congestion.
Inspections will be carried out to ensure that tobacco products are not sold around the school. Narco clubs will be formed in schools to suppress the mafia. Secret surveillance was also launched to find child criminals who are acting as agents of the mafia.
A total of 263 students in the district are under police surveillance for using drugs. These children were put under surveillance based on confidential information from student police cadets, teachers and parents. Some of these students are 12 years old.
