KANHANGAD: A Kanhangad POCSO court has sentenced an accused to 107 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 4 lakh for sexually assaulting a minor girl for six consecutive years. Ashraf alias Ravi (47), a resident of Idukki and a resident of Bara Quarters, was sentenced by POCSO court judge C Suresh Kumar to 107 years rigorous imprisonment under various sections.

He was sentenced to 60 years of rigorous imprisonment for rape and 7 years' rigorous imprisonment for another crime. He faces up to 20 years in prison and 40 years in prison in for two POCSO charges. The convict needs to serve the sentence together. The abuse was between June 2012 and June 2018.

The chargesheet was filed by Kumbala police inspector P Pramod, who was the Melparambu SI. Special Public Prosecutor P Bindu appeared for the prosecution.
