KOCHI: Abdul Latheef, a native of Malappuram, who was nabbed for uploading a fake video of Thrikkakkara LDF Candidate Jo Joseph, is not our activist, said the Muslim League. Latheef has no links with the League, said the Muslim League’s regional leadership. Earlier, the police had said that Latheef was a supporter of the League. Following which, the League came forward with an explanation.
Abdul Latheef, a native of Kottakkal in Malappuram, was taken into custody by a special team of the Kochi police on Tuesday. He was nabbed from Coimbatore. The police had taken five people into custody in connection with the case.
Abdul Latheef will be brought to Thrikkakkara by Tuesday noon. According to the police, he is a supporter of the Muslim League. However, it is unclear whether he holds any official position. The video was tweeted using a fake Twitter ID.
The Twitter authorities had handed over the details regarding the circulation of the video to Kochi police commissioner, last night. The police suspect that the video was circulated by Abdul Latheef. The police have sought information from the Facebook authorities in order to clarify the matter.
