KOCHI: The long-awaited Thrikkakkara by-election in Kerala has come to an end. Now, the fronts and activists will be waiting for the counting of votes and the declaration of results. The turnout was 68.75 percent. Strong polling was recorded in Thrikkakara municipality.

As per official figures, women have cast the most votes in the constituency. There are a total of 1,01,530 women voters and 95,274 men voters in the constituency. Voting took place in a total of 239 polling booths.

Following the high turnout, all three fronts expressed confidence about the election results. After casting her vote this morning, UDF candidate Uma Thomas responded that her majority would rise. On the other hand, Jo Joseph said that there was no doubt about the LDF's victory. AN Radhakrishnan said that the BJP would register a surprise win.
