KOCHI: Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Tuesday said that the person arrested by the police over the alleged bogus voting in Thrikkakara was a CPM activist. VD Satheesan alleged that there was widespread bogus voting in the by-election and that the CPM was behind it. The Opposition Leader said that the UDF had high hopes in the high voter turnout and that Uma Thomas would get a higher majority than PT Thomas.


Earlier, police had arrested Piravom native Albin for trying to cast vote in the name of another person named Sanju. Albin has been taken into custody and is being questioned by police. He tried to cast a bogus vote using a fake ID card.

Meanwhile, DCC President Mohammed Shiyas alleged that the arrested Albin was a local leader of the DYFI.
