monkey-pox

ABU DHABI: UAE has made isolation and quarantine mandatory for those infected with monkeypox and those in contact with them. The UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention has implemented a robust epidemiological surveillance system to rapidly detect all communicable diseases and viruses, including monkeypox.

Those diagnosed with monkeypox should remain in hospitals until their illness is cured. They will be completely in isolation. Those who have been in close contact with those diagnosed with the disease should stay in quarantine for at least 21 days. Home isolation is needed in such cases. However, the Ministry of Health said that the authorities will monitor whether the isolation is being followed properly.

On last day, three more people had been diagnosed with monkey pox in the UAE. The first case of monkey pox was reported in UAE on May 24. 29-year-old, who hails from West Africa, was first diagnosed with the disease in the country. Those who have been diagnosed with the disease are currently being treated in hospitals until they fully recover. The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention has demanded people to believe information related to monkey pox only from official sources and not to spread false information and speculations.
