THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Administrative sanction has been given for various projects worth Rs 312.88 crore in the education department, including Rs140 crore for free school uniforms. Minister V Sivankutty said in the press conference that financial assistance has been provided to 288 schools for mentally challenged students.

Rs 44 crore has been allotted for the functioning of various institutions under the Department of Education, Rs 10 crore for renovation of labs in higher secondary schools, Rs 9 crore for lab equipment, furniture and library books, Rs 7.75 crore for student-centered programs, Rs 7.45 crore for improving academic standards and also Rs 1.20 crore has been sanctioned for renovation of Regional Deputy Director's office.

Rs 7 crore has been sanctioned for Vocational Higher Secondary, Rs 5 crore for improving sports facilities, Rs 90 lakh for prizes in PTA committees and Rs 1.2 crore for implementing modern facilities in schools.
