THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Although a disease has devasted the eyesight of a family, still they are a model for survival as they earn their livelihood by dairy farming. They have nine cows. Ranny native Alappattuveetil Punnoose, his children Jomon and Jomol and grand daughter Anshwal are visually impaired.Only his wife Annamma and Jomol's youngest child have eyesight.
Punnoose still wakes up at 4 am, reaches the barn and provides fodder to the cows. He identifies each cow by touching the horn and then gives cattle feed. Meanwhile Jomon cleans the shed by removing the cow dung. Then Annamma does milking of the cows. It is Jomol who correctly pours up to 40 lires of milk in several bottles to given in households. Jomon takes these milk bottles and distribute them to houses. Although most of them are visually impaired, still they does all the works.
Now the entire family is depended on Annamma, but she is afraid who will take care of them after her death.
The family has a hereditary disease that affects the nerves which supplies blood to the eyes. Treatment did not work. Despite of the loss of eyesight, the family continued to do cattle farming and thus did not give up.
