THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Schools return to normal after a gap of two years. Classes from one to twelve will start today. With the opening of 13,000 schools in the public education sector, 42,900,000 students will attend classes today. Four lakh students have got admission in class one.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state level Pravesanotsavam at Kazhakoottam Govt HSS in the capital city. The function presided over by Education Minister V Sivankutty will be attended by Ministers Antony Raju and G R Anil, Principal Secretary, Public Education Mohammad Haneesh, Director Jeevan Babu, Rasool Pookutty, Kadakampally Surendran MLA, Mayor Arya Rajendran, District Collector Navjyot Khosa, district panchayat president advocate D Suresh Kumar, SSK director Dr Supriya, ward councillor L S Kavitha, school principal I Bindu and others will attend.
The first three weeks will be a revision of the sections. This year there will be sports, science fairs and arts festivals which have not been held for the last two years. Education Minister V Sivankutty said that online study will continue. Masks and sanitizers are mandatory. Students should not share food. Digital learning will go simultaneously.
Distribution of textbooks and uniform is 90% complete. The fitness test of school buildings is not completed. So far, 54.12% of children between the ages of 15 and 17 and 14.43% of children between the ages of 12 and 14 have been given two-doses of the vaccine.
