NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has directed that action be taken against police officers who violate the law by not wearing masks and helmets. The order was issued by Delhi High Court Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sangvi. The court pointed out that the police should be role models for the people.

The action was taken on an appeal filed by advocate Shalen Bhardwaj seeking legal action against Delhi Police officials for violating the Covid-19 guidelines on duty and not implementing the Covid-19 guidelines despite issuance of circulars by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Delhi Disaster Management Authority.

There have been a number of Covid protocol violations on the part of police, including not wearing a mask while on duty. There were many complaints against this. In view of this, the court has directed to take stern action against anyone in the Delhi police force who does not wear a mask while on duty or ride a bike without a helmet.
