THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Road Safety Authority has selected 238 out of 346 black spots on national, state and other pwd roads in 14 districts as high risk category. It is to avoid frequent accidents which causes loss of lives and serious injuries.
The safety measures include warning passengers half a kilometre before black spot. The issues regarding the road construction will be solved. Speed breakers and surveillance cameras will be set up. Safety fencing, crash barriers, signal lights and other safety measures will also be ensured.
According to the Central Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, black spots are areas where there are five accidents or ten fatal accidents within a radius of half a kilometre within three years.
