NEW DELHI: In the wake of the alarming terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a high-level meeting on Friday. Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Ajit Doval, Chief of Army Staff and Kashmir police chief will attend the meeting. The meeting is expected to discuss issues including the deployment of more troops in Kashmir. Earlier, Amit Shah had held talks with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by RAW chief Samant Goel and Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh.
A Rajasthani manager was shot dead by a terrorist who broke into a bank in Kulgam, last day. The attack took place in Ellaqie Dehati Bank at Areh Mohanpura in Kulgam district. The victim, identified as Vijay Kumar (29) was rushed to the hospital, but could not be saved. Two people were shot dead by terrorists in Kashmir, last day alone. Of which, one is a minor from Bihar. With this, a total of four people were killed in Kashmir terrorist attacks in the last eight days.
Attack on soldiers
Three soldiers were injured in an explosion in a military vehicle in Kashmir’s Shopian district at around 3 am last day. One person suffered serious injuries and remains in critical condition. The terrorists had launched grenade attacks against the soldiers who were travelling in a private vehicle for an anti-terror operation.
Huge protests
Terrorists have been targeting various sections of Kashmir's migrant workers, minorities, government employees and others. The community has been protesting since the killing of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhatt. The protests intensified following the killing of Rajni Bala. About 4,000 Kashmiri Pandits have warned that they will leave the valley unless relocated to safer places.
Seven killings in May, 16 this year
Last month, a total of seven people were killed in targeted killings by terrorists. The dead were identified as Kashmir Pandit teacher Rajni Bala (36), government employee Rahul Bhatt, TV actress Amreen Bhat, wine shop employee Ranjit Singh and three policemen.
