KOCHI: The High Court has extended time till July 15 for the prosecution to conclude further probe into the actress assault case. A Single Bench of Justice Kauser Edappagath allowed this on the plea of the Crime Branch probing the case.
The further probe into the case was started after director Balachandra Kumar revealed that Dileep had received the footage of the accused attacking the actress. The High Court had directed the Crime Branch to complete the investigation by April 15. Later, the time was extended till May 30 on the plea of the Crime Branch. The probe team then approached the High Court again stating that the probe was not yet complete.
While allowing more time, the Court observed, "the Pendrive submitted by the prosecution contained two folders containing three voice clips each, which were apparently collected by the investigating officers during the course of further investigation and hence required careful analysis."
In the plea, the prosecution had urged the court some time by saying, "the probe team had to make every piece of evidence admissible, failing which the accused will challenge it as inadmissible before the trial court."
