THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fishing is not allowed off the Kerala coast on June 7 and 8. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted bad weather and strong winds of up to 40-50 kmph in the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast.

Winds of 40-50 kmph are likely on June 7 and 8 in south-eastern Arabian Sea, Kanyakumari coast, Gulf of Mannar, southern Tamil Nadu coast and adjoining areas of south-west Bay of Bengal and mid-eastern Arabian Sea. In some cases, winds of up to 60 kmph and bad weather are also likely, said the IMD. In the prevailing situation, district collector Dr Navjot Khosa has advised fishermen to refrain from fishing in the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast and other alert areas, on the above days.
