THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader, former MLA and former Devaswom Board president Prayar Gopalakrishnan (72) has passed away. He was the chairman of Milma for a long time. He died at Vattapara SUT Medical College Hospital.
He was the MLA in Chadayamangalam in 2001. He had a heart attack while travelling to Thiruvananthapuram and died later.
Prayar Gopalakrishnan entered the political field through KSU. He was the district president of KSU in Kollam. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2001 from Chadayamangalam constituency in Kollam. In 2015, he was appointed as the President of the Travancore Devaswom Board. He also served as the District President of the Youth Congress in Kollam.
Prayar joined the Milma Board of Directors in 1982. He was chairman from 1984 to 2001. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the State Co-operative Bank. Following the resignation of Balakrishna Pillai, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Kerala State Welfare Corporation for Forward Communities. He resigned later when he was appointed as Devaswom board president.
