slap

CHENNAI: A policeman has been arrested in Coimbatore for slapping an online food delivery worker by the side of the road. The worker was slapped by the police for trying to stop a speeding school van.

Mohanasundaram, a distributor of Swiggy, was beaten up by Satheesh, a policeman at the Singanallur Traffic Police Station. Mohanasundaram, 38, has been working as a distribution worker for the past two years.

The incident took place on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore last Friday. Mohanasundaram saw a private school van speeding dangerously and stopped the vehicle. This caused minor traffic congestion in the area.

The policeman came rushing here and hit Mohan Sundaram twice in the face and confiscated his mobile phone. The policeman then pushed down the worker's two-wheeler. This can be seen in a video footage that went viral.

The policeman asked if he knew the owner of the school bus. The police officer was first shifted to the control room after the video went viral. He was later suspended from service. Mohanasundaram lodged a complaint with the police and the incident became controversial. Later, a case was registered against Satheesh and he was arrested.
