THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC has prepared a project for bus service by using Compressed bio-gas to reduce financial distress. The first phase of the service is likely to start in September.

The project was successful in states like Bengal, UP and Tamil Nadu. CBG is being used in CNG buses. Diesel buses can also be converted to CBG buses. KSRTC will build bio-gas plants, as the organic waste collected from different offices can be used to make this . There was a plan to buy more CNG buses but the plan was dropped as it cause loss. A KSRTC expert panel have visted Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu to know more about the plant . The cost is Rs 83 per kg for CNG and Rs 48 per kg for CBG.
