THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major reception was accorded to opposition leader V D Satheesan following the thumping victory in the Thrikkakara by-election. The activists welcomed him with slogans and new ‘adjectives’ as soon as he landed at the Thiruvananthapuram airport.

Meantime, Satheesan asked the activists not to call him captain and that he is not a leader. Ours is a team work. He demanded the workers to remove all the hoardings which has only his picture. There is only one leader in the congress, this was his reaction when called him a leader.

‘After continuous defeats, the thumping victory in Thrikkakara has boosted confidence among the workers. The victory in Thrikkakara is just a beginning. There is still a lot of hard work to be done.’

Satheesan said that we can return only by sheer hard work. The people of Thrikkakara have given us confidence for that. This excitement will not be temporary and will solve the flaws of the organization and move forward. Every single leader of our party played a significant role in the victory and so did every party worker.

We need strong youth and good women representation. A collective team work is needed for that. We are getting a female MLA, he said.
