NEW DELHI: Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav has said that the Supreme Court's ruling on eco-sensitive areas was impractical. The minister made his stand clear during a meeting with Idukki MP Dean Kuriakose.

Dean demanded that a review petition be filed against the verdict and that the farmer's interest be protected by legislation. One km wide buffer zone around the wildlife sanctuary is unacceptable. Zero buffer zone should be maintained in populated areas. Otherwise, tens of thousands of people will be evicted.
