KOCHI: The high court on Tuesday will consider the anticipatory bail plea filed by actor and producer Vijay Babu in connection with the actress sexual abuse case. The actor claims that he had consensual sex with the actress and that the reason for the complaint was that she was denied opportunity in films.
The prosecution will ask the court to question Vijay Babu further. The court had earlier stayed the actor’s arrest after considering his anticipatory bail plea. The court also directed Vijay Babu to cooperate with the investigation.
Meantime, the police will submit the investigation report before the court, on Tuesday, on the basis of the evidence collected so far. As of now, the statement of 40 people has been recorded. Hints suggest that the police have received evidence that Vijay Babu had cheated others, apart from the complainant, by making false promises.
According to certain eyewitnesses’ statements, it is Vijay Babu’s habit to assault and insult women and many women are reluctant to lodge a complaint in fear of his financial clout and criminal connections.
Vijay Babu, who had been absconding in Dubai, arrived in Kochi, last week. Following which, he was summoned to the police station by the probe team for interrogation. The actress had lodged a complaint on April 22 alleging that she was sexually abused several times by the actor after promising opportunities in films.
