NEW DELHI: A national media has reported that the controversial remark made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma in a television debate was used by Pakistan for a social media campaign against India. A new toolkit was developed for this. According to the report, Pakistan had been using this social media campaign to rally the Arab countries against India. The toolkit has revealed how fake accounts of several prominent persons were used to target Nupur Sharma by rallying the Arab countries against India, the report said.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had suspended Nupur Sharma following a series of protests by Islamic countries over the controversial statement. The party had also expelled its Delhi unit media head Naveen Kumar Jindal over his controversial remarks about religious minorities. Several countries had come up welcoming this action. However, countries such as Pakistan tried to use this issue to turn Arab countries against India.
