THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to Chief Minister, has responded that he was not giving much importance to the statement made by Swapna Suresh, the prime accused in the gold smuggling case.
"I am not giving any importance to her statement. There have been a lot of statements like this," Sivasankar said.
Earlier today, Swapna had said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had smuggled currency during his foreign visit in 2016 and that Sivasankar first contacted her by stating that the chief minister had forgotten to take one bag with him.
"Sivasankar called me saying that that the chief minister had forgotten his bag and that it should reach Dubai as early as possible. The bag was sent through the diplomat at the consulate. There was currency in it. The bag was scanned at the scanning machine at the consulate. Realized that it was currency then. This is how everything started. Biryani dishes were sent to Cliff House from the Consul General's house as per the instructions of Sivasankar. It contained not only biryani but also metal objects. None of my statements are different. I have no agenda to drag anyone or anything," Swapna said Swapna after giving a confidential statement in connection with the gold smuggling case.
