THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president K Surendran said that the revelation of Swapna Suresh that the Chief Minister and his family are involved in the international gold smuggling case is serious. Pinarayi Vijayan has no moral right to sit in the Chief Minister's chair. He should be prepared to respond to the allegations raised by Swapna, said Surendran.
The charge of treason has been leveled against the Chief Minister. It is a shame for Kerala that the CM himself has smuggled currency directly. Surendran said that the Chief Minister tried to stop the National Investigation Agency because he too was involved in the case.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that a court-supervised inquiry should be held in the wake of Swapna Suresh's new revelations. The Chief Minister should respond in this regard. The party secretary's explanation is not sufficient in this regard, said Satheeshan.
It is now clear that the issues raised by the UDF are correct. VD Satheesan had said that the Opposition had repeatedly raised the question of how the investigating agencies had closed the probe one morning and filed chargesheet against a few accused when they had shocking information including confessions.
