THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police said that 139 sovereigns have been lost from the mainour kept in the locker of the RDO court.

The sub-collector had earlier found that 72 sovereigns had been stolen. An inspection on Tuesday revealed that another 67 sovereigns are missing. The inspection will continue today. The twenty four sovereigns found in the locker were fake gold.

The fake gold was found while inspecting each item mentioned in the stock register at the RD office. Examination of the mainour since 2010 revealed that colour of some pieces of jewellery has faded. Following this, the theft was uncovered with the help of an appraiser.
