THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has responded to the controversy over the statement made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma against the Prophet. Arif Mohammad Khan said that India was a country that respected everyone and the BJP had taken action against the person who made the derogatory remark against the Prophet.

He also responded to the demand that the country should apologize formally over the controversy. "Should I apologize if anyone said anything on the streets of Thiruvananthapuram? India is a country where all religions are treated equally," the governor said.
