THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The current attempt is to portray the chief minister, his family and myself in a bad light, said former minister K T Jaleel. The UDF and the BJP are trying to stain the image of the public servants, he alleged in a press conference.

“Instead of saying that the biriyani was sent to the Cliff House, it’ll better to say that it was sent to my house. I have not seen the chief minister eat biriyani. The media should not publish anything that someone says. They should bring it to the people only if convinced of its truth. It was the chief minister who demanded that a central agency should investigate the case. It is up to the investigation agency to tell where the gold went, for whom and how. As for us, we don’t have any fear. I am welcoming the ED officials to my home once again. If I had any connection with the gold smuggling case as alleged, then I would’ve been behind bars quite earlier itself. The investigation agencies know better than anyone else that I’ve no involvement in it. The attempt to make public servants look bad in front of the public won’t work out,” said Jaleel.
