THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Friday rejected the allegations raised by Swapna Suresh in the gold smuggling case. Kodiyeri alleged that there was a conspiracy behind the revelations of Swapna and that the motive behind the allegations was to create political instability. He said that the court should check the credibility of Swapna's statement.

"This is not the first time Pinarayi is facing an allegation. The Chief Minister will not resign. There is an organized movement against the Chief Minister and his family. The opposition is trying to mobilize the people and cause riots. We will face it by mobilizing the people. Revealing the confidential statement is an unusual move. The Chief Minister was the first to send a letter to the Centre requesting an inquiry into the gold smuggling case," Kodieyeri said.

Kodiyeri said that he went to the US thrice for treatment. "All those visits were made for the treatment. All the expense was borne by the party. I do not know Shaj Kiran. I am hearing the name for the first time," he added.
