THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader VD Satheesan on Friday said that there was a mystery surrounding the allegations raised by Swapna Suresh, the prime accused in the gold smuggling case. He said that understanding between the CPM and the BJP was behind the silence of the central agencies despite all the allegations. Satheesan also said that Pinarayi Vijayan, who is facing allegations in the gold smuggling case, should step down from the post of Chief Minister.

The opposition leader said that the contents of Swapna Suresh's audio recording should be investigated under the supervision of the High Court. "The CPM and the Chief Minister should respond accurately without uttering cliche statements. Was journalist Shaj Kiran the mediator sent by the police? Is this how the police should handle this case?" Satheesan asked.
