THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police are worried whether the case registered against Swapna Suresh and PC George on the complaint of KT Jaleel on charges of conspiracy and attempting to create riot will stand.

The case was registered under sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 120-b (conspiracy) of the IPC. The officials are not sure whether the case will stand if it is charged for attempting to create riots merely on the basis of the confidential statement given in the court.

Thiruvananthapuram Crime Branch SP S Madhusoodanan, who is heading the special investigation team, met Sheikh Darvesh Sahibthe head of the crime branch overseeing the investigation, yesterday and conveyed this.

Swapna and George are set to file a petition in the High Court seeking a quashing of the FIR.

The head of the crime branch instructed SP Madhusoodnan to note down the confusing matters and hand them over to the legal counsel. The investigation team will meet online after receiving legal advice.
