KOTTAYAM: Several people in Kottayam are facing difficulties following the restrictions imposed in the region in connection with the visit of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Traffic was disrupted in the city. A family, including a baby, was stopped by the police.
The baby and its parents were stopped by the police while they were on their way home after the baptism. The police told them that they can leave only after an hour. "'We had gone to the church in the morning for the child's baptism. We were on our way back home when the police stopped us. We did not come here to do anything to the CM. We haven't eaten anything. Our house is nearby only. But they are saying that we can leave only after an hour. What kind of justice is this?" the family responded.
The CM's security was beefed up following the allegations levelled by Swapna Suresh, the prime accused in the gold smuggling case. The CM reached Kottayam to take part in the KGOA conference.
