KOLLAM: A draft master plan has been prepared for the revival of Cashew Corporation and Capex, two public sector undertakings in the cashew sector. The move aims to acquire private factories that have been closed for no specific reasons and to make the Cashew Corporation self-sufficient.

The master plan features the activities that should be completed by 2030. Around Rs 200 crores are expected from the government. In the first two years, partial mechanization will be implemented, to increase the production and quality, in such a way so that the workers will not lose their jobs. Value added goods, including cashew feni, will be brought into the market.

In the next three years, closed private factories will be taken over and 3,000 more workers will be appointed. Mechanization will also be implemented.
