NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi will appear before the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in Delhi at 11 am in the National Herald case. The police have tightened security in the national capital to prevent protests. Prohibitory orders have been imposed around congress’ headquarters.

All entrances to Akbar Road have been closed. The police blocked the march staged by the party in support of Rahul Gandhi. There have been reports of Congress activists being detained and taken in a bus while shouting slogans in support of the leaders. The pictures of these have surfaced. Authorities expect more Congress workers to take to the streets as the party plans to stage a show of force.

The ED have issued a notice to Congress president Sonia Gandhi asking her to appear on June 23. The ED is probing the alleged financial irregularities in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd, the publisher of the National Herald newspaper, by Young Indian Pvt Ltd, of which Sonia and Rahul are directors. The ED had earlier questioned Mallikarjuna Kharge, senior leader and the CEO of Young India and MD Pawan Bansal.
