THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The UDF leadership will intensify the protest against the Chief Minister following the allegations of Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case. The UDF meeting will be held at 11.30 am tomorrow at the Cantonment House to decide the future program.
According to the leadership, the series of strikes has energized the Congress ranks. The struggles have put the government and the Left Front on the defensive. UDF convener MM Hassan told reporters that if the violence against Congress offices and leaders were not stopped, there would be strong repercussions. "The CPM is carrying out widespread violence against the Congress. They attacked KPCC headquarters and several other Congress offices across the state. AK Antony, who was present at the time of the violence at the KPCC headquarters, managed to escape miraculously. Kodiyeri's and E.P. Jayarajan's statements also led to the violence. The CPM resorted to violence to divert public attention from the protest against the Chief Minister.
Despite the attack on the KPCC headquarters, the police did not register a case," Hassan said.
Hassan alleged that RSP leader NK Premachandran was beaten up by police in Kollam on the instructions of the Chief Minister's Office.
