NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) gears up against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald money laundering case. Rahul Gandhi was unable to explain why he had given Rs 1 lakh to Young Indian Ltd (YIL), said the investigation officials.
In addition, there is evidence that a commission of Rs 1 lakh was paid to Dotex Merchandise Pvt Ltd. It is alleged that the commission was given for money laundering.
The ED will quiz Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday as well. The investigation team questioned Rahul Gandhi for nearly 20 hours in two consecutive days. The questioning ended by 11:30 pm last day. Following which, Gandhi visited his mother Sonia Gandhi at the hospital.
The ED has summoned Sonia Gandhi for questioning on June 23. However, she is unlikely to appear before the ED, next week. The date shall be extended citing health issues.
