The Narendra Modi government is planning to provide employment to 10 lakh people in the central service within a year and a half. As the beginning of this, the census of vacancies in various departments was completed in April. As of March 2020, there are 8.86 lakh vacancies. The highest number of vacancies are for C-grade employees. About 7.67 lakh vacancies. After reviewing the vacancies in various departments and ministries, the Prime Minister tweeted that within one and a half years, 10 lakh people will be employed in the central service. Earlier, Union Minister Rajnath Singh had announced that 46,000 people between the ages of 17.5 and 21 would be employed annually as part of the newly launched Agneepath recruitment drive in the Defense Forces. Youngsters who have passed Class X and Plus Two can apply. Recruitment will start within 90 days.

Unemployment has become one of the biggest challenges facing the country since Covid. At least one lakh people have job opportunities in the railways. The central government should also take steps to ensure that the competitive examinations related to this are flawless. The leak of question papers of the examinations for the Railways and the Central Teachers' Recruitment had led to huge protests. We should not forget the violent demonstrations held in UP and Bihar by those preparing for the Railway Recruitment Examination after news came out that the examination was postponed due to the leakage of question papers.

There are many vacancies in various sectors such as the paramilitary forces, GST, customs and excise and banks. More private training and learning centers will naturally emerge in the wake of the announcement. They will be charging hefty fees. As this will be inaccessible to the economically backward sections, the state government and voluntary and youth organizations should take the initiative to set up training centers. If Kerala, which is at the forefront of literacy, puts an effort in this way, it can become one of the states that can admit the most number of people to the central service. Veterans' organizations and others in the state can set up training centres in all districts to train the youngsters for the Agneepath project. The government should provide all the help they need. The state government has also announced that it will provide employment to five lakh people. The central and state governments should also be able to convince the people that all these promises have been kept. Therefore, the Centre should officially disclose the details of those who got jobs in central services after one and a half years. The state government should also release figures on how many people are employed each year.
